
Malisa Brooks, PhD, LCSW
Director of Research
Dr. Malisa Brooks is a dedicated social worker and academic with extensive expertise in trauma and mental health. Holding both a Master’s and Ph.D. in Social Work, Dr. Brooks currently serves as an Assistant Professor in the Social Work program at Utah Valley University, where she teaches upper-level research methods and clinical courses. Her teaching and clinical practice are particularly focused on supporting survivors of sexual assault, Veterans, and first responders.
Dr. Brooks’ research centers on the psychometric properties of assessment instruments, trauma and suicide interventions, and the mental health of college students. As an accomplished clinician, she has experience in both private practice and Department of Defense-funded clinical research trials, specializing in the treatment of trauma and trauma-related disorders.
Passionate about integrating research and practice, Dr. Brooks is committed to advancing evidence-based approaches to trauma care and training the next generation of social workers to address the unique challenges faced by vulnerable populations.
